- Students wrote a personal reflective piece to their stereotyped self-images. They were asked to describe what they drew and why, and to comment on how their perceived self is different from who they actually are.
- We watched several video clips that deal with stereotypes and racism in humourous ways, and discussed the intended audience, the message, whether they agreed or disagreed with the message, whether it was offensive and/or effective. We had a class discussion on these topics where students had to respond aloud and defend their views. The videos can be viewed here:
- Students were then given a character profile worksheet to begin developing a character for a narrative piece. This profile sheet is due on Thursday. See this sheet on the English 421 page.
- Today students worked on their personal crest/collage personal writing prompts. There was also a list started for portfolio items due next Wednesday, September 30th.
